Welcome aboard the Quantum of the Seas, one of Royal Caribbean's Quantum Class ships. This is the second largest class of ship in royal Caribbean's fleet, behind the Oasis class, but second or not, the Quantum is still absolutely massive. For context, if you've every been on a Disney cruise, Quantum of the Seas is nearly twice the size. With sixteen decks, the Quantum of the Seas has a huge number of dining and snacking options, two stories of shops, bars, and lounges, three pools, and more. The adults-only pool, in fact, has it's own plants.
For this sailing, we're skirting up the Alaskan coast from Seattle, Washington with ports in Ketchikan, Sitka, and Juneau, Alaska; as well as Victoria British Colombia in Canada. We caught this trip at the end of the Alaskan cruising season in mid-September, which is arguably the best time to go for whale watching, salmon, and the local bears. It's not terribly cold either with temperatures in the 50s and 60s Fahrenheit most days. We'll be posting walks through the various ports over the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
Regarding this walk, we'll be starting on Deck 3 and working our way all the way up to 16. Deck 2 only has the gangway and medical center, and we'll be skipping decks 6-10 as those are only guest cabins. We'll be checking out the various restaurants, where we can, activity venues, and some of the Quantum's unique amenities such as the North Star and RipCord experiences.
