The Alaska cruise season has been saved. Like many, we thought cruises to Alaska wouldn't happen for the second year in a row. Yet, we were wrong. We will have several Alaska cruises from Seattle this year!
First, congress stepped in to amend the current Vessel Passenger Services Act, allowing foreign-flagged cruise ships to bypass the required stop in a foreign port Then, the CDC stepped and provided additional guidance for cruises with 95% of passengers being fully vaccinated.

-----THE MAJOR CRUISE LINE’S BEST ALASKA CRUISES 2021 ------ Since the passage of the Alaska Tourism Recovery Act, all of the major cruise lines have announced cruises in Alaska for 2021. The first cruise ship to sail in the region will be the Serenade of the Seas. This Alaska cruise on Royal Caribbean will depart on July 19th, sailing round trip inside passage sailings from Seattle, Washington.
Royal Caribbean will have a second ship, Ovation of the Seas, beginning sailing in Alaska on August 13th. This Quantum-class ship offers several exciting onboard features, paired with the natural wonder and beauty of Alaska.
Sister brand, Celebrity Cruises, will offer Alaskan cruises on the recently revolutionized Celebrity Millennium. This ship will begin sailing on July 23rd. The ship will sail to several popular ports of call, along with sailing Endicott Arms, and Dawes Glacier.
Princess Cruises will have one cruise ship sailing in Alaska in 2021. Majestic Princess will begin cruises on July 25th. These roundtrip cruises include stops in Juneau, Skagway, and sailing Glacier Bay. This ship will certainly be one of the best Alaskan cruise ships sailing this year.
Carnival Cruise Line will have an Alaskan cruise ship sailing in 2021. The Carnival Miracle will cruise Alaska from Seattle, WA with 7 night round-trip sailings. This cruise ship in Alaska is only open to those fully vaccinated, this includes only children eligible for the vaccine and has received all doses two weeks prior to sailing.
Alaska cruises on Holland America Line will happen this year, too. One ship, Nieuw Amsterdam will sail 7-night Alaskan cruises. The ship will include several popular ports of call, including Skagway, Juneau, and Icy Strait Point.
------BEST ALASKA CRUISES FOR SMALL CRUISE SHIPS------ For individuals that prefer small cruise ships, there are a number of excellent choices for the best Alaskan cruise ships in 2021.
Lindblad expeditions will be offering several cruises to Alaska on 4 vessels. UnCruise Adventures will have 6 Alaska cruises to pick from. These itineraries range from 7 to 14 days in length with ships carrying 22 to 86 passengers.
American Cruise Lines will sail American Constellation to Alaska in 2021. The ship is brand new to the region, offering 8 night and 11-night itineraries.
