Who Can't Wait To Visit France Again? Discover Toulon With Princess Cruises | 197 Countries, 3 Kids

Join us as we explore Toulon France, a colorful historic port city on the French Riviera.

With the bustling Marseilles to its West and the world-famous Cannes to its East, Toulon is the perfect spot to embark on a journey into Provence and the Côte d'Azur.

As we were getting ready to discover the next stop on our cruise through the Mediterranean, the Sky Princess docked into the La Seyne-sur-Mer, a cruise port opposite Toulon’s city marina.

Instead of doing the typical cruise excursion, we decided to hop on a bus that took us straight to downtown Toulon.

Our first stop was Place de la Liberté, or Liberty Square where we saw a beautiful local Christmas market being set up around Federation Fountain. We couldn’t ignore the resemblance to New York’s Lady Liberty holding a torch, which was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Barthold.

Downtown Toulon had a lot to offer, from beautiful sculptures and Roman-style buildings to tiny bakeries and cozy cafés. Similar to many other European cities, the main square area was surrounded with important municipal buildings and historic landmarks.  Here we saw Toulon’s Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Seds and the Municipal Theater.

We really enjoyed the French vibes Toulon was giving us as we wandered around its narrow streets.

On our way to the marina, we stopped to get some chocolaty treats at a local Carrefour, which basically is the French version of Target in the US. You just can’t avoid indulging in some delicious chocolate when in France.

Our final stop was the Toulon Port which didn’t really have the usual luxurious look one would expect from the main city marina. There we took a boat ride back to Sky Princess and witnessed a breathtaking sunset and even more incredible moonrise.

For dinner, we chose to go back to the ‘Soleil’ restaurant for round two because the food was incredible. We started off with some fancy drinks and finished with mouthwatering desserts. The girls even got a ton of popcorn to snack on back in our stateroom.

And since the night was still young, we decided to see an amazing music show featuring the great vocalist, Phillip Browne.

Next stop … Gibraltar!
