We often get asked, "Can You Live and Work From Your Boat?" Yes! It's called #WorkingReboatly! This episode is how we work reboatly whether we are at our own marina or out cruising and how we make that work. The first thing that you need is connectivity. We have 3 hot spots that we use when we leave our marina.
The second is you need to find the right work space on the boat. Karlynn likes to use the pilothouse and Jon wander when he is on the phone but likes the breakfast bar or will go up to the bridge for phone calls and the stateroom is good if you need a quit place to work with no interruptions.
The other thing to consider is external noises. The dog or kids can be a problem but we also have geese, seaplanes and ferries to consider in our situation.
The third item is keeping it professional. With virtual applications like Zoom, Teams or Chime you have the options to implement virtual backgrounds to have a professional background that is not distracting.
The fourth is having the right lighting. We have a ring light that lets in more light when it get dark whether we have to close the blinds or if it is a cloudy day.
The last is appearance. It is important to dress appropriately and dress professional.
