Kon Tiki III is 31 feet long. She rises about 16 feet above the water line. Slightly less then three feet below. She holds 150 gallons of gasoline. Plugs into standard 30 amp marine outlets for shore power (cords included) and also produces 1400 watts from seven solar panels that run three separate charge controllers. The sun's power is stored in about 800 amp hours of batteries. Half of which runs the cabin and can be alternately charged by a 40 amp Genius charger when plugged in to shore power. Two 3000 watt, pure-sine inverters direct battery power to outlets that will not harm sensitive electronics and were strong enough to make my coffee in the morning. I always let things like hot plates, air conditioning and heat, feed from a 3000 watt portable generator (not included) The engines push the boat along comfortably at just under eight miles an hour and consume one gallon for every mile you travel. You can push it faster but the mileage will suffer. There are trim tabs below that operated once upon a time but while I owned her, I never bothered to get them working. She is so heavy with all my carpet and panels and batteries (eleven total I think) that it would be like whipping a small horse with a heavy load on it's back. This boat is made for a different purpose then to go fast. It served me well as a floating home. It did ok as a traveling boat, but it was a bear to single hand. With someone else aboard, things like docking would have been a lot less stressful even though she steers and maneuvers well. That's what I thought compared to other boats of similar size that I've driven. Still, someone helping toss and catch lines would've been very nice. Overnighters and weekenders were very fun on this boat. Some have said I should turn it into an Air BnB but I can't be bothered with that. I have enough already on my plate. What I mostly want now is for someone else to enjoy her as much as I did and to make her a good home.

This boat was initially listed for thirty thousand but realistically, I would be happy with a good deal less. I'm not sure how much though. Ultimately, I would like to give it to someone for a good price and at the same time not get taken advantage of. A lot of people contributed to help keep her alive last year as I made my way along the first leg of the Great Loop. It sure would be nice if that generosity could transfer over to a new vessel. I hope to press on someday thanks in part to all that help and encouragement, whenever and if ever fate allows. Thanks to everyone who donated to Kon Tiki III! If I do make a few bucks on this sale, those contributions could live on towards their intended goal. Maybe there is a Kon Tiki IV out there?!

So, make a reasonable offer if you are interested. And help me close a very special chapter of my life. If you follow along with my video logs of The Great Loop, you know what I'm talking about. Meanwhile, I will try my very best to keep my head buried in the computer, assembling the rest of the footage from Part One of my long travels on the Intracoastal Waterway.
