In this video we walk through how to fix your Broken Tank Gauge. The one thing that has been pain in our ass is our fuel tank sensor not working on our port fuel tank that was called out on survey when we bought the boat. It turns out that to replace it was going to cost $3500 and that is insane!
So we have been measuring it the old fashion way with a stick down the tank since it is a rectangular tank but not very elegant when you are under way and it was on our punch list to get done. There are three easy solves.
We decided to do the pressure transducers for our tanks and instead of $3500 it only cost us $1000 or one boat buck ? So first we changed out the port fuel tank sender since that was our problem child. Then we changed out the starboard tank being careful of the little capillary so it doesn't get blocked. Then it was on to the water tank and the black water tank. Removing the black water tank sender was gross! We had Katie pump out our black water tank next to get ready to calibrate it. But before we do that we need to know how much water is going into the tank so we bought a water meter that is used for gardens and lawns so you don't over water. We don't have a garden on the Elli-Yacht but we will use it to calibrate our fresh water and black water tanks.
