Do we have two new favorite anchorages? We left Blakely Island and decided to head to Watmough Bay on the south eastern side of Lopez Island. It was our first time anchoring there. There was a beach at the end of the bay so we could take the dog out so he could do his business. Then it was time to start cracking some crab that we had caught earlier that day and make some crab macaroni and cheese! The wind started to pick up in the evening but our anchor was set hard.
The next morning we pulled anchor and headed to Blind Bay on Shaw Island in the middle of the San Juans to find protection from the wind. We went to shore to check out the general store which is right next to the ferry dock and found a place to take the dog out. We then headed over to Orcas Island which was just a short ride away. We stopped at the Boat House Cider Works before heading to grocery store to pick up some essentials since the one on Orcas was much bigger and had more variety. Then it was back to the Elli-Yacht for the evening.
We left the next morning to head over to Deer Harbor to tie up to the marina since the wind was predicted to get up to 15 knots with gusts up to 25 knots. And boy did it blow!
