This time we took a tour from Panama City to Colon City in the Panama Canal Railway Company.
This a trip that you need to take if you want to have a nice trip with views of the canal and also surrounded by nature.
This is a trip that takes about 1 hour in each direction. There are two option that you can request regarding the wagon, that could be the standard or the panoramic view. It does make a different because the view is amazing but the panoramic wagon is limited compared to the standard. But either way the view is amazing.
The Railway was built between 1850 and 1855 it took 5 years with over 8 millions dollar and more than 10,000 lives.
The conditions in Panama at that time were very aggressive and that it was the same conditions that later make it difficult to build the Panama Canal but thanks to the railway this was an easier task but still difficult for the workers.
The most interesting fact is that the Railway company run out of money (they had started with 1,000,000) but just with in the first 11 km they were struggling without knowing how to finish the line.
