Genting Hong Kong has revealed moves that will see Star Cruises and Crystal Cruises revive cruise operations that have been on hold since the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the industry in March 2020. The Star Pisces will become the first cruise ship to resume sailings in Malaysia and one of the few in the world. The 40,000 GT cruise ship will offer Langkawi itineraries beginning May 13, 2021 at the start of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Holidays. The Star Pisces can accommodate up to 1,600 passengers. She was originally built in 1990 at Masa-Yards Turku New Shipyard (Finland) as the cruise ferry MS Kalypso. In 1993 and 1994, the Kalypso was sold to Star Cruises and rebuilt as a cruise ship in Finland. She offered since 1994 cruises in Asia mostly in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Since February 2011, she offer daily high sea cruises from Hong Kong.
The new 2021 Langkawi itineraries will provide Malaysian guests the opportunity to enjoy the pleasures of cruising again from Penang. Activities on board will initially operate at a reduced capacity, and will be organized in accordance with permitted group sizes. Measures will be in place to discourage close contact between groups.
The proposed Langkawi cruises will comprise of two-night “Langkawi Escape” and a series of one-night “Straits of Malacca” cruises. Langkawi Escape, a two-night cruise, will depart Penang every Friday and Sunday. Passengers will have 10 hours of port time to explore Langkawi. Langkawi is one of the most popular tourist centers in southeastern Asia but still a very quiet place offering beautiful preserved landscapes and a rich fauna. Langkawi means island of the reddish-brown eagle. I's easy to watch this beautiful eagle especially in the mangrove forest. Tours offer to watch or feed the eagles.
The new homeport of the Star Pisces will be in Penang. George Town is the capital city of the Malaysian state of Penang. Due to the intermingling of the various ethnicities and religions that arrived on its shores, George Town acquired a large eclectic assortment of colonial and Asian architectural styles. The oldest portion of the city centre has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 2008. UNESCO recognized the city for having a "unique architectural and cultural townscape without parallel anywhere in East and Southeast Asia". It also gained a reputation as Malaysia's gastronomic capital for its distinct and ubiquitous street food.
Chew Jetty is one of the largest and most famous clan jetties along the coast of George Town. This Chinese ethnic village built on stilts is walking distance from the port and a very interesting place to visit.

All videos/photos contents on this channel are 100% my own. YT is already full of same views, same images, same videos used again and again, most of the time without source or credit. If I don’t have video or picture about a ship, I prefer to not post about it and I don’t use any content from someone else. So all videos you can watch on this channel are originals but limited by my own experiences. I hope you appreciate it nonetheless.
