Join us in Costa Maya! Our first port of call aboard the @RoyalCaribbean Voyager of the Seas out of Galveston, TX. We made a quick tour of the newly re-vamped Costa Maya Cruise Port in Mahahual, Mexico and then introduced Veronica to diving in the open ocean with the @diveblu3 Nomad tankless diving systems!

In last week's video, we embarked aboard Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas out of Galveston, TX for a 5 day cruise to the western Caribbean. In that video, we showed around the ship & enjoyed the sail away party. In this week's video, we made it to our first Port of Call in Mahahual, Mexico: Costa Maya Cruise Port.
A beautifully built cruise port that we unfortunately didn't have too much time to experience. We were greeted to a Mayan themed expansive port full of restaurants, shops, bars, pools, palapas, & more! There's so much to do in this port that you don't even to leave the port to have a good time. For example, you can swim with dolphins, visit the aviary, relax in their beachside pools, and enjoy live music underneath a palapa while enjoy some ice cold Caribbean drinks.
Not your style? Outside of the port there's a line of Taxis waiting to take you anywhere in Mahahual for a flat rate of $8. They took us down to Luna's Playa (beach) Bar a bit further south of the main part of town. A perfectly quaint beach bar well-shaded & complete with a swing bar - this was a perfect spot to kick off our self-guided excursion.
We enjoyed some drinks (michelada & a crazy monkey) before gearing up in our dive gear and making our way out into the ocean protected by the Mesoamerican reef. While weather began to roll in, including wind, the water was nicely protected from what would have otherwise been an uncomfortably rocky ocean. The water here doesn't get any deeper than 10 feet before you reach the rock structure further out. A perfect place to introduce someone to open water diving; and what better way to do it than with a wonderfully portable tankless dive system made by Blu3.
While the dive wasn't perfect, and the weather was less than ideal - we still had an excellent time and even saw some fish! We made our way back to shore to have another round of drinks and then debrief on Veronica's very first open water dive. If you come to Luna's Playa Bar, you may even consider a massage on the beach after a day in the ocean!
Thank you for watching the video, if you enjoyed it, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe! Stay tuned for next week's video: Driving & Diving Around Cozumel! Thanks again, we'll see you in the next one!
